reunited in chicago.

A couple weeks ago we took a little trip to Chicago with our friends Pete and Megan and their adorable baby Taylor mainly for the BYU vs. Notre Dame game, but to also see the amazing city of Chicago.  It was a short trip and I wish we could have spent a little more time in Chicago, but we got a little taste of the city and we liked what we saw!  It was so good to see Pete and Megan!  Moving from Ladera to Utah, away from them, was and is hard, but as long as I get some doses of them I think I'll survive!
We arrived on a Thursday.  We walked from the train station to our hotel to be able to take in more of the city.  We met Pete, Megan and Taylor for a lovely dinner.  Even though it had only been 3 weeks since I had last seen them, the reunion was so great!
Friday was spent doing touristy type things and lots of walking.  We went on the architectural boat tour, went to "the bean", went to the top of the Hancock building, shopped, and ate.  I don't know how, but Megan and I mustered up some energy to put on our "racing suits", caps, and goggles to swim some laps in our rooftop lap pool.  The air was freezing, and thus we swam SO fast to keep our blood pumping!
Saturday we loaded into the car and headed to Southbend, Indiana.  It was such an amazing experience to be on the Notre Dame campus.  When we arrive it was about 10am and already the campus and parking lots were filled with faithful Notre Dame AND BYU fans.  Really, there were so many people there taking in the beautiful campus, visiting the bookstore, eating from one of the many hot dog and burger stands, and just enjoying each others company.  Even though BYU lost (and they totally could have won, which made it sad), this was a perfect day.  Oh, and Taylor was a hit that day!  She looked so cute with her little football legwarmers on and her BYU stickers on her face.  This was one day when Megan wouldn't let Mike carry her around and pretend that she was his!
It was sad to leave the vacation and especially our friends... but until next time...
